Christina Edmunds Fund By Katie Curley , Staff Writer Daily News of Newburyport Plagued by what she believed were migraines, Christina Edmunds began experiencing extreme pressure in her head, double vision and slurred speech. After a visit to the hospital, she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Edmunds, a former Newburyport and Amesbury resident and 29-year-old honors student in psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, has a very rare and inoperable tumor of the brain stem called Pontine Glioma. The tumor occurs when abnormal and normal cells attach to each other, making it impossible to operate on. It is usually only found in children ages 5 to 10, according to Children's Hospital Boston. Since her diagnosis, additional challenges, such as paying for her treatment, have been added to Edmunds' life...
